Moldings to Create a Custom Look
Adding hardwood moldings to kitchen cabinets can provide a richness not found in other features. Moldings are available in oak, cherry, and maple. They can provide your cabinets with such details as fluted columns, valances, cornices, galley rails and open shelves. These can help to combine function and beauty to your kitchen. Moldings can also provide a custom look to stock cabinets. There is a misconception among people that sheet goods such as plywood and medium density fiberboard are not suitable for kitchen cabinets. In fact, sheet goods are a much better bargain than solid wood. The reason being that sheet goods are not that costly; furthermore, use of solid wood is not ideal for kitchen cabinets because of the fact that it absorbs moisture and is often unstable.
